“Since joining SOSD in 2018 as a fosterer, I have been consistently moved by the passion and dedication of everyone in this community. Their unwavering heart for the animals deepens my commitment to serve - to care for the dogs entrusted to us, to speak up for the voiceless, and to work towards stronger legislation, higher welfare standards, and greater accountability across our society.
This work is never done alone. It relies on the interconnected efforts of donors, our amazing volunteers and staff, fellow animal welfare groups, members of the public, and our governing authorities. When we come together with shared purpose, real progress becomes possible not only for the animals we rescue, but for the broader welfare landscape in Singapore.
It is an honour to stand alongside this community as we educate and advocate for a more compassionate Singapore for our street dogs."

“My journey with dogs began in 2020 when I adopted my first dog, Morgan, from SOSD just before the COVID pandemic. As a first-time dog owner, Morgan was truly a dream—patient, gentle, and loving. I later volunteered with SOSD as a fosterer and rehomer, finding unique joy in seeing timid or withdrawn dogs blossom into playful, curious companions in loving homes. Witnessing the dedication of the volunteers and staff inspired me to take on the role of Secretary. I’m excited to work alongside everyone to make a meaningful difference in the lives of these dogs.”

"Starting as a dog walker volunteer, I gradually became involved in rehoming and fostering when I realized making a difference in the dogs’ lives gave me rejuvenated purpose. Recognizing my finance background and expertise, I willingly assumed the thankless role of treasurer, a crucial position for the organisation. The alignment of my financial skills with my deep love for animals made this role a perfect union of my passions."

"The greatest reward in this work is when a feral dog eats in our presence for the first time; wags it's tail at the sight of us for the first time; allows us to pat it for the first time; goes for a walk outside for the first time; finds a forever home, a loving family for the last time. It's a long journey for each and everyone that comes through our shelter, but the joy that each one brings us at every milestone is immeasurable. That's what keeps me going through the years, especially when the going gets tough."

“Animal welfare has come a long way, yet there is so much that still needs to be done. The work is tireless and I am fortunate to be able to contribute alongside a wonderful team of people. The reward comes in knowing that we have made a difference in the lives of the dogs that come our way. And despite what they go through, the dogs always have so much love to give.”

"It takes a village to rescue a dog: feeders keep them fed, trappers secure them humanely, vets provide medical care, trainers rehabilitate, shelter staff give TLC, and rehomers find forever families. I’m blessed to be part of this community. But true rescue, to me, must be proactive, not just reactive. Every dog has a story, and I’m driven to ask: how did they end up like this? My mission is to address the root causes of neglect and abandonment, working with the wider community and authorities. One day, I believe we will break the cycle."

"What started as a simple affection became a calling to care for those who can’t speak for themselves. Along the way, I’ve learned that change doesn’t have to be big or loud. Even the smallest act of kindness can mean the world to this one. Some days feel heavy, but I remind myself why I started; for the voiceless, the forgotten, the ones who just need someone to care. I hope that through compassion and action, we can build a world where animals are seen, understood, and treated with the empathy they’ve always deserved."

"As SOSD’s Finance Manager, I ensure our funds are responsibly stewarded so we can continue giving our dogs the love, medical care, and second chances they deserve. SOSD is a family with big hearts, and I’m grateful to support our mission behind the scenes."
