Arya came from a farm where she had given birth to several litters of puppies. From what we could gather, some of her puppies had sadly passed away within days of being born. When we first met Arya, she barked at us, but she allowed the farm workers to gently handle her puppies so that we could bring them in for care. Despite the unfamiliar situation, Arya was highly food-motivated and readily followed a trail of treats into a carrier, making her rescue a relatively smooth process.
Arya has a wonderfully friendly personality and warms up to people almost immediately. She is eager to interact and happily offers a sit or paw in exchange for a treat! She’s also an enthusiastic explorer who enjoys discovering new sights and smells. She can pull quite strongly on the leash when excited, but is happy to slow down and take her time sniffing when she comes across a patch of grass.
Given her size and thick coat, we suspect Arya may be a Malamute cross, so a cool, comfortable environment would be ideal for her. She also appears to get along well with other dogs so far.
With her friendly nature and zest for life, Arya has so much to offer a family. We hope she won’t have to wait too much longer to find a loving home of her own!
