Cleo is a beautiful young dog who’s learning to trust the world, one pawstep at a time.
For the first 10 months of her life, Cleo had a home and was deeply affectionate with her owner. But sadly, she never had the chance to explore the outside world. Without early socialisation or mental stimulation, Cleo became extremely fearful and sensitive to new experiences. When her owner could no longer manage her needs—and after complaints from neighbours about her barking—Cleo was surrendered to SOSD.
Since arriving at the shelter, Cleo has slowly been coming out of her shell. It took her about a week to warm up to each of our team members, and though she remains wary of strangers, her sweet nature shines through once she trusts you. She’s still afraid of going for walks, but after a recent staycation with one of our staff, she’s been making small but steady progress.
Cleo is looking for a special adopter: someone patient, gentle, and committed to helping her grow in confidence. With the support of a rewards-based trainer, Cleo can continue to blossom. In return, she’ll shower you with loyalty and love—the kind that’s all the more meaningful because it’s been so hard-earned.
If you believe in giving second chances and watching resilience bloom, Cleo just might be your perfect match. ????
