Jacky was adopted as a pup but returned due to behavioural issues. While he went to foster homes subsequently, circumstances somehow ended up with him back at the shelter for good by the time he was 5 years old.
He’s turning 11 years old this year. Through the years, he’s become a real Casanova, charming his way into all of his handlers’ hearts. It’s as if he knows he needs to be on his best behaviour, so that we can help to find him a home, before it’s too late. For now, he’s still fit as a fiddle, and we would love for him to have his last 1/3 of his life in a home, instead of shelter.
Jacky’s main issues revolve around guarding, so it’s best to give him lots of space when he is eating, resting, or playing with a toy. On walks, while he mostly walks like a gentleman, he can sometimes pull strongly and react to other dogs, and may redirect to his handler when he’s frustrated about being held back. Therefore, he needs to be muzzled for walks, for safety.
Jacky is extremely intelligent and eager to please, which makes him a great training dog partner! He would best fit a small family with no old folks and children.
We know it is going to be a huge challenge finding a suitable and patient family for him, but we are keeping the faith that someone will see the potential in this boy! We love Jacky very much, and would love to work hand-in-hand with any interested parties in your adoption journey, to ensure the best introduction and a safe integration.
