Peggy is the third sibling of two puppies we had previously rescued. She was later brought in by AVS, and we were thankfully able to bail her out and reunite her with her siblings. She may be the smallest of the three, but don’t let her tiny size fool you — Peggy is absolutely bursting with personality!
Peggy can be fearful of strangers and needs some time and space to feel comfortable around new people. Once she has had a chance to settle down, however, food is usually the way to her heart! When Peggy gets to know and trust you, she absolutely loves human companionship and enjoys being close to her people.
This little girl is a bundle of energy and can often be found bouncing around the house. She would suit an active family who enjoys spending time and engaging with their dog. Peggy is also a very smart girl who loves training — especially when treats are involved! Her enthusiasm for food makes her an eager and entertaining training buddy.
At home, Peggy is pee-pad trained. Her adopters should note that she may play with her poop if it is not cleared promptly, so a little extra attentiveness will be needed in this area.
The outside world is still quite overwhelming for Peggy. On walks, she can become anxious and dart around fearfully, particularly around people pushing trolleys, those carrying bulky items, or noisy children. She does much better in quiet environments, especially later at night, when she is able to relax, engage with her handler and even enjoy some training.
One of Peggy’s favourite places is the dog run — provided she has it all to herself! With the space to run freely and no strangers around to worry about, she comes alive, happily zooming around to her heart’s content.
Peggy will need a patient and understanding family who can give her the time she needs to build confidence and feel safe. In return, they’ll get to know the affectionate, energetic, clever and wonderfully spirited little dog beneath her initial fears.
We truly hope Peggy will soon find the right family — one who will cherish her, help her navigate the world at her own pace, and give her all the love and care she deserves as she grows up.
